This policy describes how Tesify collects, uses and protects personal data when you use our website and our application. Because the data controller is established in the European Union, we apply the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation EU 2016/679). For users in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply on equivalent terms.
1. Data we collect
We collect account data (name and email address), the content a user creates on the platform, and technical usage data (browser, device, pages visited). The student is the author and the owner of the content they produce.
2. What we use data for
- Providing and improving the academic writing service;
- Authenticating accounts and protecting their security;
- Sending service updates and responding to support requests;
- Meeting legal obligations.
We do not use student documents to train artificial intelligence models.
3. Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We share information only with the infrastructure providers necessary to operate the service, and where the law requires it.
4. Institutional deployments
Where an institution deploys Tesify for its students, the allocation of controller and processor roles is set out in a written data processing agreement concluded with that institution before deployment. What administrators and supervisors can access is configured by the institution during deployment. Institutions may use their own DPA template, and we expect the institution’s data protection officer to review the arrangement before a pilot begins.
5. Your rights
You can access, rectify, export or erase your data, and request portability, restriction of processing or the withdrawal of your consent, under the GDPR. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, write to the address below.
6. Retention and security
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described, and we apply technical and organisational measures to protect it. Specific retention periods for an institutional deployment are set in the applicable data processing agreement.
